The Harmonic Dissonance Quartet is a playful art-science installation that invites visitors to explore human synchrony, mediated by motion, thought, and algorithms.

The audience participates by dancing and moving in front of large audio-visual instruments.
Each instrument can be played alone, but the Harmonic Dissonance Quartet is at its best when played collectively.

Participants unlock new levels of play by replicating each other's moves, imitating each other's gestures, and synchronizing each other's thoughts. Working together the audience evolves the installation, creating ever-changing compositions that shift between harmony and dissonance.

The Harmonic Dissonance Quartet is an interdisciplinary project of scientists and artist. Incorporating scientific experiments into an immersive experience, it translates "objective" data streams into intuitive narratives for participants and onlookers the like.
